AMPS Protests Victorian Compulsory Vaccination of Health Care Workers
The Australian Medical Professionals Society has again (previous letter 5/2/25) requested the Victorian government’s scientific and ethical justification for it’s mandatory influenza vaccination policy for healthcare workers. To date no response has been received.
Dr Duncan Syme (President of the AMPS) has pointed out that current research from the U.S. Cleveland Clinic shows paradoxically that vaccination actually increases the incidence of influenza in the vaccinated population. Dr Syme also pointed out that current research from the U.K’s Cochrane that there is limited to no evidence that vaccination decreases illness or hospitalisation.
It appears that the Victorian government is playing what it considers its best defense by ignoring the issue and hoping that it goes away.
The policy of the Victorian government has always contravened the human dignity of its healthcare workers by violating their bodily sovereignty. The research cited by Dr Syme shows that it also contravenes good health care. It also contravenes the medicine and vaccine policy of The Riverina State Group.
If the Victorian government continues its unconscionable behaviour, these healthcare workers can be assured that they will be welcome and well treated in The Riverina.
