During her recent visit to Deniliquin, the Premier Gladys Berejiklian stated that she will be governing for all of us. Unfortunately, that includes the 435,000 Green voters in N.S.W opposed to irrigated agriculture and forestry; and there are a lot more of them than us.

All Premier Berejiklian’s decisions (i.e. decisions of the Liberal/National party) will be based on what will gain the most votes, so the math’s is easy to calculate. All her decisions will favour The Greens over the people in the irrigated agriculture and forestry industries.

Politics is numbers, and the numbers in N.S.W. either opposed or ambivalent toward irrigated agriculture and forestry are politically insurmountable.

The only way to achieve a satisfactory political result is to form a Riverina state separate from N.S.W. Decisions can then be made by people living in the Riverina that will benefit irrigated agriculture and forestry, and by extension benefit all the people in that state. This cannot be done under the domination of the much larger population in Newcastle, Sydney and Wollongong.

The people in the Riverina need to form a Riverina state. The continued dereliction of N.S.W. politicians is proving its necessity – and ensuring its certainty.
