Country Electorates Expand – Again. On the inevitable way to One Member of Parliament west of the Great Dividing Range.
Of the eight NSW State electorates west of the Great Dividing Range, five are expanding in size ( In red: Murray, Cootamundra, Dubbo, Bathurst, Northern Tablelands), one is reducing (Albury), and one has lost and gained some area (Tamworth).
This expansion is a continuation of the 115-year trend of electorates west of the Great Dividing Range expanding in size and decreasing in number, and urban electorates decreasing in size and increasing in number.
At the current rate, in forty years there will only be one electorate and Member of the NSW Parliament west of the Great Dividing Range. This decreasing Membership will ensure the decimation of The Riverina accelerates.
The people of The Riverina need to form a Riverina State separate from NSW; and the sooner it happens, the better off the people in The Riverina will be.
