    This is an excellent idea that would clean out the deadwood from major parties. But then, who else would employ the Craig Kelly’s of the Australian political system? Only Rupert …..

    Implementing this two or three consecutive fixed term incumbencies with/without right of return after an absence of say, two terms, will require the self-interest of the politicians to be put behind the best interests of Australian democracy.

    But we are currently attempting to prevent politicians from exploiting their positions after politics by banning their working for corporations that they were dealing with in politics, and that has gone absolutely nowhere while too many politicians have migrated into the corporate sector taking their public service contacts with them for the benefit of their new employers.

    However, being pragmatic, I cannot see any incumbent politician voting for their own political demise.
