The Amended Basin Plan is All About Politics

Chris Brooks (Chairman Southern Riverina Irrigators) once again accurately describes the water disaster in an Advertorial in the Pastoral Times (Deniliquin) 22/9/23. Of special note: “This is not about the environment, and it never has been, it is political and all about power”.

The Federal Government only manages the Basin Plan with the permission of NSW, Victoria and South Australia.

A political solution needs to be found, but a satisfactory solution cannot be found in the Green oriented urban dominated States of NSW or Victoria, and it certainly cannot be found in Federal politics.

A satisfactory solution can only be found in a Riverina State with a State’s guaranteed authority over all the water within its area. Remaining in NSW and Victoria will only ensure that the irrigation areas eventually dry up, and the people blow away.
