No Water Minister Has Any Professional Agricultural Qualification or Irrigation Experience

Of the Federal and NSW and Victorian Water Ministers, none have any professional agricultural qualification or known irrigation experience.

The answer to what qualifies these politicians to be appointed to these ministries is unknown.

I think it can be assumed that ensuring that irrigation water is delivered and used productively, and consequently ensuring the prosperity of the people in irrigation areas, is not the correct answer.

The lack of any professional qualification or known experience in irrigated agriculture indicates the lack of importance the productiveness of the irrigation industry is held in in both Federal and State Parliaments. The history of the decline in water availability can be considered a consequence of this lack of importance.

A Riverina State, including all the irrigation areas of NSW and Victoria, with its reliance on, and appreciation for, irrigated agriculture, will ensure that both irrigated agriculture and the people in these areas, prosper.
